«Buot eallá» betyr «alt lever» på nordsamisk, og er en gammel samisk måte å se verden på – der mennesket deler jorda med mye annet liv, ikke bare med andre mennesker. Kajsa har lært de gamle tradisjonene fra Kárášjohka gjennom sin far, sine tanter, onkler og besteforeldre, og i denne konserten joiker, synger og forteller hun om disse. Men hva er en joik? Og hvorfor joike? Gjennom musikken tar Kajsa oss med på en reise opp gjennom Karasjokdalen, og åpner for at alle kan få tenke fritt og langsomt om hvordan vi som moderne mennesker fremdeles kan ha bruk for kunnskapen fra de som var her før oss.
Kajsa er en samisk artist som er oppvokst og bor i Oslo. Til daglig snakker hun mest norsk, men for å holde språket levende så synger hun på samisk. Med seg har hun bandet sitt bestående av cello, gitar og trommer, og på den måten reiser de gamle fortellingene inn i vår tid gjennom musikken. Sammen vil de dele den samiske kulturen både ved å synge, spille, fortelle og joike! Konserten varer ca 35 minutter, og Kajsa åpner for spørsmål og samtale med barna underveis.
«Buot eallá» means «everything lives» in the North Sámi language, and is tied to the ancient Sámi worldview that humanity shares the planet with other life forms and ecosystems. Kajsa Balto has learned about the old traditions from Kárášjohka through her father, aunts, uncles and grandparents, and in this concert she shares her knowledge through songs and Sámi joiks. But what is joik? And why do it in the first place? Kajsa’s music takes us on a journey through the Karasjok valley, and gives us time and space to reflect on how the modern world can make good use of the wisdom passed on to us from our elders.
Kajsa Balto is a Sámi artist raised in Oslo, Norway. She speaks Norwegian in her daily life, but in order to keep the language alive she sings and performs in North Sámi. She is joined by her band – cello, guitars and drums – and brings the old stories to life through storytelling and music. The concert lasts for approximately 35 minutes, and the audience is able to join the conversation during the show.
